Metal stamping is a process that uses a press machine and molds to deform or fracture stainless steel, iron, aluminum, copper and other sheet materials and special-shaped materials, to achieve a certain shape and size. Sometimes, metal stamping is also called sheet forming, but there is a slight difference. The so-called sheet forming refers to using sheet materials, thin-walled pipes, thin profiles, etc. as raw materials. The forming methods of plastic processing are collectively referred to as sheet forming.
Pressed parts are widely used in various fields such as aerospace, automobiles, ships, machinery, and chemical industries. Currently, they have gradually become a major component in the parts manufacturing industry. When manufacturing pressed parts, there may be situations like tearing or skewing. So, what should pressed part manufacturers pay attention to when choosing the material for pressed parts?
(1) Among the various types of steel plate specifications, regardless of whether it is a fixed-length plate or a coil plate, for the same material with the same thickness, the sales price varies depending on the width of the coil. Therefore, to reduce costs, efforts should be made in formulating the coil width. While ensuring the material utilization rate, try to select the coil width range without additional charges. For fixed-length plates, it is advisable to choose the appropriate size of the specification. After cutting from the steel mill, there is no need for a second cutting, which can reduce the cutting cost. For coil plates, try to select the coil material specifications and processes for opening and forming to reduce the workload of secondary cutting and improve work efficiency.
